Sensors for Wall Thickness Monitoring of Hot and Hard-to-Reach Objects

Sensors for Wall Thickness Monitoring of Hot and Hard-to-Reach Objects

The FP111-3.5-6.40-XXX°C-J(F) series ultrasonic transducers are designed for stationary modules (systems) used in remote residual wall thickness monitoring of pipelines, tanks, and other industrial equipment subject to corrosion and erosion wear.

The sensors are engineered for long-term, high-temperature operation.

Ultrasonic signals are transmitted to the test object via dry contact, eliminating the need for liquid couplants.

Sensors are available in three modifications with maximum operating temperatures of 150°C, 250°C, and 600°C.

Two Design Options

  • FP111-3.5-6.40-XXX°C-J — Semi-rigid cable, 0.45 m length, BNC connector
  • FP111-3.5-6.40-XXX°C-F — With platform for electronic unit mounting, 0.45 m height, BNC connector

Additional Information

  • FP111 sensors are supplied with individual acoustic performance certificates.
  • The sensors are compatible with a wide range of ultrasonic instruments that support the echo-echo measurement method.
  • Prior to installation, a flat area at least 20 mm in diameter must be ground on the test object surface.
  • The sensor mounting design must ensure firm pressure of the sensor face against the ground surface to establish reliable dry contact.
  • Clamping force must not decrease with rising temperature. Titanium M10 bolts are recommended.
  • Custom sensor designs are available upon customer specification.
