Hot-Dip Galvanizing Kettle Inspection Services (In-Service Condition)

Hot-Dip Galvanizing Kettle Inspection Services (In-Service Condition)

Fizpribor provides residual wall thickness measurement services for hot-dip galvanizing kettles without interrupting production.

The measurement data enables precise calculation of corrosion rates and reliable assessment of the kettle's remaining safe service life. Based on the residual thickness analysis, we offer expert recommendations on adjusting burner (heater) operating parameters or repositioning burners to extend the kettle's operational life.

Measurement Principle

A high-temperature transducer is immersed directly into the molten zinc and pressed against the inner wall of the kettle. The liquid zinc itself serves as the acoustic couplant, eliminating the need for additional contact agents.

Wall thickness measurements are performed using an ultrasonic flaw detector operating in the echo-echo measurement mode, which provides high accuracy even on corroded or uneven surfaces.

Equipment

Kettle inspections are carried out using the HTP-600 system, which includes:

  • Ultrasonic flaw detector
  • High-temperature ultrasonic transducer
  • Manual manipulator for immersing and securing the transducer inside the kettle
